So I quit my job, again!

A month ago, I left a seven year old secure job at the highest rated bank in the middle east. I left a company that has 2000+ employees and joined one that has a little over 800. I really appreciated the move to a smaller company and the advantages that comes along with it. It’s easier to move in a smaller company and your suggestions/complaints actually get delivered. In fact, I’ve enjoyed the move so much, that I quit that job for an even better position in a company that has less than 20 employees :)

I am now the deputy manager of investment placement in an islamic investment company. I’m also the acting manager of the department, a department that still doesn’t exist :P I’m just worried that I’ll eventually be the chief executive officer, of a petrol station, somewhere by the border :)

I’m still at that same highest rated bank, and i have also been reluctant to leave for a smaller company thinking that i would have no support and do everything from A to Z. I have no love for that bank as you know they treat and compensate their employes, but i can’t get myself to make the leap…..

Congrats to you for braking free.

Chika, Thanks! But, where did you go?

    Solymar, Hmm, branches?

NoNoWa, Thanks! But I noticed that when it rains, it pours. When I got an offer for a job outside and people heard that I was considering; 3 oppertunities followed.

That is so exciting. Better to take a calculated risk than to wonder, later in life, what might have been. It’s kind of scary, but exciting, challenging; you will get to develop new skills. Good luck, and congratulations for making the leap!

Nope, HO and i feel foolish many times knowing that i’m making so little in a job market were some companies hire ppl with a hint of ability or experience. I’m npot saying that i’m a spuer performer, but i do more than most and have been promoted 11 of my 14 yrs at the bank. Hell, We just had a lady in our office who was filling in for someone in a different dept (completly outsider her field) and got an offer (and took it) for head of dept in that dept she was just filling in for someone!!!!!

WOW, 14 years!?? Mashallah. So that’s 11 grade plus 4 or 5, you’re on grade 15? Your salary should be pretty decent then. I sure made the right decision leaving the bank, if you’re complaining.

I think the main reason you’re not approached as much as you think, is people assume you won’t leave after 14 years. After leaving the bank, I got 3 offers.
